Good parts of Xmas

But not the food.

Bring it the fuck on.

  1. Ditto! Feed me and I can ignore anyone who says 'He is the reason for the season' and I won't get in their face and say "Shut up and look up the history of the season!" :)

    Happy Solstice.

  2. But holiday food can be detrimental to my weight loss. And after all, if I lose 60 pounds...

  3. I'm with you on the "over-commercialization of society" - that is the particular fly in the ointment that makes me wanna say forget it to the whole thing when it comes to Xmas! At my house we do the cooking of a big meal to the 25th just because that's the only day hubby & I can both be sure to get off work. In the end we very non-commercially celebrate the Solstice and Kwanzaa (books or something to create with are the only buyable gifts, everything else is made by hand) and otherwise just enjoy the time off with each other and making as many yummy treats as we can...

  4. OK hope you are inundated with gifts of fruit cake. Don't like that idea, hmmm. How about letting it ferment and... I must say I am partial to the new LED Xmas lights more so than the old bulb kind.

  5. Wait, there's food? I thought there was just special beer. Maybe that's just at my house.

  6. Totally agree on the over-commercialization, it's pathetic!!! Now I know that you, Evo, aren't necessarily into the "Christ" part of Christmas, but that is one of the reasons for this celebration time ... even if of course it has nothing to do with the actual birthday of Christ (which probably took place somewhere in September/October).

It's pathetic; we start seeing Christmas stuff appearing in September these days, and then Halloween decorations, and then Thanksgiving ... and then even more CHRISTMAS!!! COME ON!!!

If you are a Christian and want to celebrate Christmas GREAT!!!
If you are a Jew and want to celebrate Hanukkah GREAT!!!
If you are of the group that wants Kwanza ... FINE!!!
If you are of no group and want Festivus ... OK!!!
If you don't want to celebrate anything ... GO FOR IT!!!

BUT DON'T LET RETAIL RUIN THE SPIRIT OF WHAT YOU CELEBRATE (and if you do celebrate something, let that something be celebrated too ... don't just give to give because it's what society says ... take the red pill ... don't just be satisfied with the status-quo)

This is a time of year to enjoy family and life ... don't let commercialization get in the way.
